You will need:
Dough:
- 160g Flour
- 50g Water
- 1 Egg
- 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- A pinch of salt
Filling:
- 700g Pears
- 4 tbsp Sugar
- 60g Dark Chocolate
- 50g Almonds (you can replace with other nuts or dried fruits)
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- Orange or lemon zest
- 2 tbsp Bread crumbs (you can replace with crushed cookies)
- 2 tbsp Vegetable or melted Butter for covering the dough and coating the strudel before baking.
Prepare the dough.
Mix the flour with the salt.
Heap the flour and create a well in the middle.
Add the egg and oil.
Mix the egg with the oil using a fork, and then knead the dough.
Form a small ball and set it aside for 10 minutes.
Now, prepare the filling.
Peel and slice the pears.
Add all the other ingredients for the filling and mix.
Roll out the dough.
I recommend rolling it out on parchment paper, generously dusted with flour.
Roll the dough very thinly.
Brush the dough with butter.
Then spread the filling, leaving 2 cm along the edges.
Fold in the edges (see video).
Now, roll up the strudel, using the parchment paper for help (see video).
Brush the surface with butter and place the strudel in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Then bake the strudel at 200 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 180 degrees Celsius and bake for another 12 minutes.
Then leave it in the turned-off oven for 10 more minutes.
Let the strudel cool and dust it with powdered sugar!
Serve it on the table.
